Introduction
“There is no favorable wind for the sailor who doesn’t know where to go.” – Seneca
Five months ago, I made a life-altering decision. I left my comfortable job as a performance coach, where I had been earning a decent salary, to pursue my own business full-time. It was a scary leap into the unknown, but I knew that if I wanted to create something truly special, it had to be on my own terms. Fortunately, I had the support and guidance of amazing mentors who instilled the confidence in me to take this leap.
The Vision Takes Shape
Fast forward a few months, and my business is beginning to take shape. I have established a solid client base and now have my sights set on expanding to work with club teams, organizations, and even tapping into the corporate wellness scene. With a clear vision in mind, it was time to take action. However, this step often proves challenging for many entrepreneurs who struggle to act on their aspirations. I must admit, I found myself in a similar situation.
The Turning Point: HPLT Event in Montauk, NY
Then, everything changed. I decided to attend Brian Mazza’s HPLT (High Performance Lifestyle Training) event in Montauk, NY. I had several reasons for signing up:
- To Learn: I recognized the importance of continually expanding my knowledge and honing my skills.
- To Grow: I was determined to push myself outside of my comfort zone and experience personal and professional growth.
- To Get Uncomfortable: Stepping into discomfort is where true transformation happens, and I was ready to embrace it.
Overcoming Self-Doubt
Despite being confident in my training philosophy and coaching abilities, negative thoughts still lingered in my mind. Would people be willing to invest in my programs? Would teams and individuals want to train with me? These uncertainties threatened to hold me back.
An Empowering Experience
The HPLT event turned out to be nothing short of amazing. When people asked me about my experience, I couldn’t help but exclaim, “AMAZING!” Every aspect of the event presented its own set of challenges, and I was able to overcome them all. The learnings from the event were so profound that they deserve a post of their own. And yes, I would do it again, without hesitation.
Belonging In The Room
However, the biggest takeaway from this transformative experience was a profound realization: I belong in the room. Every individual at the event was a high performer in their own right, each with their unique story and struggles, whether mental, physical, or financial. Some were further along in their careers than others. Understanding that we all face similar challenges and victories brought us closer together. We are all human, united in our pursuit of success. The key is to find direction, and we can’t do it alone. Embracing discomfort alongside those who are currently or have previously navigated the path to success allows us to learn from their failures and triumphs. Together, we can bring others along on this incredible journey.
Conclusion
Leaving the comfort zone of a stable job to embark on an entrepreneurial adventure is a courageous decision. Attending the HPLT event in Montauk, NY, proved to be a pivotal moment, helping me overcome self-doubt and solidify my sense of belonging in a community of high achievers. By embracing discomfort and learning
